Acolytes, Eucharistic Ministers & Lectors

EMs - Eucharistic Ministers - serve as chalice bearers at Eucharist. They distribute the blood of Christ to the congregation. At St Ann's, they also lead the congregation in the prayers of the people and in the reciting of the psalms (in the absence of a cantor).

Acolytes - "Acolyte" comes from the Greek meaning "following, attending on." Acolytes assist in the setting of the altar for the Eucharist and carry torches in the gospel procession.

Crucifers bear the Cross into and out of the church for the liturgy, hold the gospel book during the proclamation, and ring the sanctus bells during the Eucharistic prayer.

Lectors read the Old Testament and New Testament scriptures during the ministry of the Word.
